I'm Dreaming of a DVD Weekend

Here are a few of the titles we've ordered recently. Taras Bulba, Lion In Winter, Shogun, Hellboy II, and a musical compilation which includes Singing In The Rain, Meet Me In St. Louis, The Band Wagon (don't know this one) and Easter Parade. (Sue me. I like musicals. They make me feel good.)

Thankfully, we have yet to receive Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Greg will pay dearly for that choice. This is where the "for better and for worse" clause kicks in.

I won't see Greg for another week and although we have some work planned there will also be great sloth fests of movie watching, pizza and margaritas. I can't wait!

Are there any old movies you particularly like? I'm always looking for recommendations.

Cat Ballou is my fave all time classic movie -- goofy and fun. Lee Marvin won best supporting actor that year, and absolutely deserved it.

I'm also a musical freak -- my DD knows all the good stuff and frequently goes around singing, "Ooooooklahoma, where the wind.." or "Good morning, good morning!" or her fave, "Moses supposes his noses are roses..."

So:

My Fair Lady
Camelot
Oklahoma
The King and I
Paint Your Wagon
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Oh man, there are so many.

For a really funny, clever, pun-filled newer movie, try "Undercover Blues". It's just plain fantastic if you have a slightly warped sense of humor.

Enjoy!

Why yes, my humor is warped. I will definitely check out Undercover Blues.

Thanks!!

Thinking about Greg here, if he likes really so bad they're good but you arn't quite sure movies@

Night of the lepus.

something tells me I've got the title a little askew but it's the one about giant killer rabbits in some American desert. The joy is in seeing how desperately the producer strives to make a rabbit look...well, menacing.

Camera closes up a nose twitching angrily, a petulant thump of a back foot, an irritated twitch of an ear...whiskers.

Brilliant.

The acting's even worse. Come to think of it, if you find it (correct title and all) it will either confirm Greg in his love for the genre or send him screaming for the Sound of Music

Sorry for the typos - sunday lunch and copious wine.

No apology necessary. That's a nice way to spend a Sunday.

He probably knows that rabbit movie. :shivers: Oh, lord. I hope he doesn't want that one. I already talked him out of a killer brontosaurus.

I had to cede Killer Tomatoes.

Cat Ballou is a good one. Paint Your Wagon always makes me laugh. I like some of the old Westerns like The Magnificient Seven.

A Western fan! We already have the Magnificent Seven and the original, The Seven Samurai, but I completely forgot about Paint Your Wagon. That was a terrific movie.

I knew if I asked, people would send me names of movies I'd forgotten. Thanks!!
