Oh, no! It's Ohno

I finally know somebody who knows somebody famous. LOL!

My niece, Becky, works at the corporate office of Walgreens, and recently she got the chance to meet Apolo Ohno when he partnered with Proctor and Gamble and the drugstore giant.

One of the few Winter Olympic events I really love is speed skating. Ohno was phenomenal, more so because the other competitors were equally formidable. I was on the edge of my seat as those athletes skated the ring at breakneck speeds.

And I loved the way Ohno kept yawning before each event. Some people speculated he was tired, but my guess is he was trying to force more oxygen into his lungs and bloodstream.

Here's a picture of my niece with oh-so-cute Ohno. He's a busy fella. I seem to see his face everywhere, and he comes across as a nice all-around guy. I wouldn't be surprised if his career skyrocketed even higher.

Who is the most famous person you know?

I need to find more friends who know famous people because God knows nobody famous ever stops by to see me. I will have to live vicariously through you.

When I was in drama in high school, my drama teacher acted as an extra whenever there were movies filming around town ... once he brought in one of the stars to class, Tim Matheson, and got to meet and talk with him for an hour.

I have a friend who used to work at the theater that Timothy Hutton ran in the 80s and knew him quite well. Does that count?

Um... and as an adult I had season tickets to the Music Circus where I lived, and had backstage passes, so got to meet the stars. I can't remember them all, but two were the folks who did the voices of Belle and Gaston in "Beauty and the Beast".

OH... and I met Jerry Garcia! I almost forgot... the Dead were in concert near the bar/restaurant I worked at, and he came in to have lunch. I didn't know who he was, so just waited on him -- and then one of my servers came over and whispered to me his identity.

He was really, really nice, BTW. Average, normal Joe. Quiet. And a good tipper. *G*

My dad was a waiter at five-star restaurants his whole life and he was always telling us stories about the Hollywood legends he met (and how they tipped).

I never meet anyone famous. :o(

PS I thought it was interesting JG was quiet --and I'm glad he was a good tipper.

My friend is a distant relative of Harvey Keitel.

I met Tess Gerritsen, Nora Roberts, Spike Lee, and Susan Lucci.
