Need Movie Idol Suggestions

Help, movie buffs! I need to find a suitable male and female actor to help visualize my lead characters.

I'm drawing a blank for the male lead, but I have a quasi idea for the female.

What male hunk do you think of when you visualize a tall, handsome man who knows what he wants? Long black hair, soldier's physique, commanding presence, self-assured. Someone younger than Clooney but as imposing as Russell Crowe.

What female hottie do you think of when you visualize an arrogant and possibly spoiled princess type who is brainy yet impatient? Dark haired, perhaps Nubian looking.

I know how they look in my mind, but I'd like to have a couple of movie stars who can capture that look without me having to describe it to the art department. Words can be subjective, but a picture can nail down an idea.

Who are your current favorites? And out of curiosity...why are they your favorites?

I'd love to help out, but I'm just not that big on movies lately. It's been a very long time since I went to the theater, so I'm out of movie touch :/

LOL. I rent nowadays. It's cheaper than going to the theater. But I am drawing a blank.

There are a few international (Aussie, Irish, Scottish) stars who I think might fit the bill. I can picture them, but I can't remember their names.

Well, I'll throw out my current fav...Gerard Butler *g* If you've seen the photos from Coriolanus, he's got the physique. As to why, that Scottish accent can melt butter, LOL -- Actually, it's more along the lines of he's one of the few actors out there that doesn't make me feel like I'm robbing the cradle!

Naomi Campbell maybe for the female?

Good ones, Sherri. I hadn't thought of either of them.

Or maybe Adrian Paul? He turned 51 last month but doesn't look it at all. You could maybe find a photo from his Highlander days where he's got the longer hair. He's got the physique no question.

Sherri: I had to look up Adrian Paul. His face wasn't familiar to me. He wasn't the guy in the Last Of The Mohicans, was he?

Wendy: Colin Farrell! That's the Irish guy I was thinking of. I'm adding him to my list. Thanks!

No, your thinking of Daniel Day-Lewis.

Adrian Paul was in the Highlander tv series and he's been in a few movies. He's of Italian/English heritage.

No one came to mind for the dude, but from the description, I immediately picture Zoë Saldana. If you saw her in Center Stage, she had attitude down and I could totally see her playing a brainy, impatient, spoiled princess.

Oh my goodness! Okay, so I have a few in mind.
Naomi Campbell: I can definitely see her given she has the "princess" part down pat.
Zoe Saldana - She just did the movie The Losers and I think she could certainly hold her own. And any actress who can handle taking on the role of Uhura from the original Star Trek series gets a star in my book, especially after doing a pretty good job in the role. Not to mention I was impressed with her in Avatar.
Gerarld Butler: Other than the sexy accent that makes women turn into puddles of babbling nonsense, I have three words, "This is SPARTA!"
Viggo Mortensen: Do I really have to explain this one? If so, I may need a frozen margarita.
One last actor that comes to mind is James McAvoy. He's Scottish. He starred in Wanted with Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman and did a darned good job in the movie The Last King of Scotland.
And I have two that won't stand out immediately but they popped in my head:
Shin Koyamada: I was impressed with him in The Last Samurai. He's a bit young so you may have to disregard him...though I figured it would be better to pitch him than be silent.
Will Yun Lee: Made a really great villian in Elektra - Electra - whatever...either way, he seems to have the intimidating look down.

Sherri: I'm going to have to ask my husband about Paul. I seem to remember we saw a Highlander movie--maybe based on the series. I can't remember for sure.

Good choice.

Catie/Angela:

I was thinking of Saldana for the female lead. She's young enough and I liked her attitude in Avatar.

Angela, obviously I do not watch near as many movies as I thought I did. I loved your choices though.

The male lead is definitely a "Sparta" guy. LOL.

Thanks, guys!

Jada Pinkett-Smith may be another female to consider.
And I know you've mentioned wanting a movie idol, but the fellow from the TV show Leverage is definitely the "dark and handsome" type. Think his name is Christian something.

From your male description, my mind drifts to Native American actors like Adam Beach. Hunk City. For the female, Reese Witherspoon maybe?

Now that's someone I haven't thought of before. Good one.

You got me. LOL. I did not know who this was. So I looked him up. He's a possibility. Thanks!
