What Does Your Profile Say About You?

Having checked out all the blogs that were entered in the Shout-Out contest, the first thing I look at is the blogger's profile. I do this with every blog I visit because the tone and description gives me some idea of what to expect from the blog.

Mine should be called Profile Lite. I like to keep a clean-looking side panel, so I try to limit the wordage and widgets.

If you really want to know more about me, you can always click on the tabs at the top of this blog where you can read about me, my books, and my lifestyle.

But profiles are important. It's a reader's first glimpse of you. Some profiles are funny, others are deathly serious, and some might be construed as borderline obnoxious. All are telling in their own way.

It's probably time I updated my profile.

Is your profile still accurate? When was the last time you updated it?

For today's fare, I've got a couple of screenwriters, a doc, an artist and one writerly blog. See what you think and drop them a note if they sound like people you'd like to hang with. I'll betcha you'll like at least one.

Lydia Kang,
The Word Is My Oyster

It's about the process and journey of writing. Since I'm a part-time doc, I can't help but let my medical/geek side show a little. I have a Medical Monday post where I answer questions that writers have for their fictional characters, or discuss medical issues that crop up in writing. And I love to scribble, so you'll see a bit of my drawing in there too because I'm too lazy to find the right pictures on the internet.

I love to hear what people have to say about how their writing is going!

Manuel Royal, Donnetown Today

A series of very short pieces of fiction related to Donnetown, the fictional setting for a tv script I wrote last year for a contest.

Prize Package: Even though I'm scrambling the blogs over the next seven days, the winner of the prize package will be selected through Randomizer. I'll give everyone a number in the order they placed their entry. Randomizer will do the rest.

Winner will be announced next Monday, July 12, along with a recap of all the blogs that were showcased.

For past Blog Shout-Out entries go here.

I'll be in and out today. Greg is celebrating a birthday today. Off to wake up the birthday boy.

I have recently updated my profile, but the old one hung around for ages before I decided to dust it down. I guess my profile has gone more professional with each update - this time around I have put a few of my writing credits up there. I think it is a accurate enough picture of where I am now, which is all I ask of it!

Jayne: I absolutely ADORE the first line of your profile.

"When I was little I wanted to grow up and be a cat, or an author."

Priceless! Don't ever change it.

Hi Lydia!

Don't forget the ones we did yesterday too.

Blogger has been giving me fits. The last couple of posts were composed on Word and that seems to keep Blogger from showing any previous posts on the same page.

To play it safe, I am going to repost all the links at the end, so no one gets left out.
