Tagging Party: Week 3

Every time you tag a book, a puppy wags his tail.

This will be our last week to tag so let's show some team spirit and tag everyone on today's post. If you're feeling virtuous you can also tag these books, and also these

Let's welcome this week's entries.

On Wednesday I will be visiting Misha Gericke where I discuss the perennial question: 'How do we know we're ready to publish?'.

Thursday I'll post a mini movie review of Captain America.

On Friday I visit Jackie Burris where I talk about book bloggers and why we need them.

This week, in between getting my regular writing done, guest posts, and eavesdropping on the group read, I also have company coming over Friday night. Greg is insisting we eat off real plates. Sheesh!

I'm coming up short on dessert ideas though. Aside from ice cream, what can I serve that's not too heavy or hot? The main course will probably be rib eye steaks or ribs, depending on what jumps out of the freezer first.

I had a problem getting a few of the links to work, but I just searched them on AMZ. Tagging and liking done! Thanks for organizing, Maria!

Real plates, huh? Such a stickler! :)

It's monstrously hot where you are, isn't it? We got a taste of that last week and it was awful. I hope you're staying cool.

How about ice cream, but dressed for guests? I have often made an ice cream cake. Fast, refreshing and guests appreciate the "trouble" although it is fairly effortless. Just a couple of flavors of ice cream, a largish round metal bowl, layering in crushed cookies, nuts and even fruit. When it's all frozen, it slips out of the bowl like a dream. Some whipped cream, or even a couple of brownie bites, make the dish cool and fun.

Okay, now I'm hungry.

The top book really got my attention. I so need to buy it. It sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks for informing me of this book.

Sarita: I'm afraid if Greg sees your suggestion he's going to insist on an ice cream cake. I'll look into it. It doesn't sound too hard. (she says doubting her meager abilities)

Thanks. And yes. Very hot. We are breaking heat records left and right.

Angelina: Try it. I really like Cate's books.

Looks like you're going to be really busy.

Since you'll have to use real plates for dinner - darnit - then simplicity will be key. Here is a link with a few recipe ideas for dessert:

I found the Strawberry Angel Food Dessert most appealing.

That group read at Riverina Romantics sounds interesting. Think I'll try and stop by.

Just make some frosting and hand out bowls and beaters. Everyone can feel six again.

Krista. She who does not entertain and with good reason.

Sounds like a busy time. I wonder whether pavlova might be a good dessert idea? Keep cool :O)
Maria Zannini said…
Angela: I was thinking of something with strawberries. When I go shopping this week, I'll see what looks fresh.

Krista: Your style of dessert is about my range. LOL.

Madeleine: I had to look up pavlova and nearly fainted. You're obviously mistaking me with someone who can cook/bake. LOL.

I wonder if i can serve everyone popsicles.

Thanks for including Dead to Rights in the tagging party! I'm off to tag the others.
Buy a pound cake, whipped cream and strawberries - instant strawberry shortcake. Or just fruit and whipped cream. Mm, or fruit and chocolate (it's so hot it will melt on its own, lol)

As for dessert, here's a super easy dish, even if it does include ice cream ;)

Good vanilla bean ice cream.
Cantelope and honeydew melon balls.
A sprinkle or two or six of tawny or ruby port.
Maria Zannini said…
Cate: I'm leaning toward strawberry shortcake. It all depends on what the strawberries look like.

Cathy: Greg may forego the ice cream for the port. LOL

Ice Cream cake is easy just go buy one at a Dairy Queen as the sell them premade and then dress it up with fresh strawberries...

I was thinking maybe sherbert instead of ice cream, or even something like Banana Pudding with vanilla wafers, that would be too down home but it is easy and light if you do not eat too much of it...

I liked Krista's idea, make my frosting chocolate.LOL
Maria Zannini said…
Jackie: Yeah, Krista's idea is about my speed. Though I doubt my guests would appreciate it.

One of my favorites for company: peel and simmer whole pears in a whole bottle of cranberry juice or red wine for a couple of hours until they are soft. Serve warm with a little of the juice or sauce around it and with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Good luck with your week - sounds like you need a clone.

Puppy's everywhere are wagging there tails. ;) Have fun with your touring!

Stacy: Oh this sounds good and I love pears. I guess the deciding factor will be what fruit looks good when I go grocery shopping.

Charlie: :o)
I like chilled fruit as well. I've also seen some interesting frozen pop desserts (like the kind on a stick) wandering around the internet, even some that were alcoholic if that's your thing.
Maria Zannini said…
Barbara: The alcoholic popsicles would suit me fine, but we're going to have a teenager present and I don't feel like going to jail on his account. LOL.

What about some sort of fruit? Maybe a fruit salad or cheese and biscuits? Cheesecake is always good too. Have fun :)
