Indulgence Has Begun

It starts with the Roast Beast.
It's Thanksgiving Day in the US but we celebrated yesterday since Greg is leaving this morning. On the menu was 'Roast Beast' (rib roast), homemade apple pie, asparagus, homemade mashed potatoes, spinach and snap peas salad, biscuits and one very tired wife.

Today I rest. Greg takes home leftovers. And the dogs are dreaming of roast beast leftovers. Dream on, boys.

I hope today is a good day for you wherever you are.

What's on your menu today?

Aw, come on, Maria. Share some leftovers with the boys. Or are you saying Greg took tham all?

I'm having a lazy Thanksgiving morning. My Greg is hosting this year so nothing for me to do. Feels a bit strange.

Hope you have a nice, restful Thanksgiving.

Hope you have a wonderful day! The roast beast looks like it was divine! Rest up today, you deserve it.

Linda: Don't feel sorry for those dogs. Da bums get home cooking everyday.

How nice that your son is hosting this year. It's like passing the baton to the next generation. Enjoy the respite.

Julie: Thank you! It was a long day yesterday, but now I can relax and catch up on some writing.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Julie.

I'm glad you got to spend your Thanksgiving with your hubby (even if it was a day early). I'm spending it with my mom and her boyfriend. The husband is on his way to becoming an ex-husband again (why can't this a$$hole ever learn!) so he's spending it by himself in the hospital. I feel really bad that he's spending it by himself but he chose that for himself.

Angelina: I'm glad you still have family for Thanksgiving. And boo on your future ex for not coming to his senses. You reap what you sow. Have a good turkey day and treat yourself to something nice. You deserve it.

We're going to have homemade panninis and soup for supper. ;)

Since my step-kids are half-American, their grandparents are making a Turkey on Sunday. It's mostly that we all just want a bloody turkey dinner with gravy, since none of us are sure what's happening with Christmas (my SIL may or may not be having a heart transplant). And, dammit, we want dead bird!

They get an organic turkey every year; this giant sucker who corpse has to go into a giant garbage bag and broken into 4 different pots for freezer stock.

Good times. Good times.

Krista: I need to learn to make panninis. I've never made them before and I know it's something hubby would like.

Ref: SIL
Sorry to hear about your SIL. But I've heard of some amazing recoveries after transplant surgeries, so I hope hers will be as successful.

Happy Thanksgiving, Maria!

We are having the typical TG dinner, but we are eating out at a hotel. That may seem strange but it works for is right now.

Get lots of writing done today and have a good rest too.

Kaye: OMG, that's brilliant eating out. I know a LOT of women who would gladly do the same.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving at our house meant me pre-making stuffing ingredients yesterday so it would be ready for Thomas Turkey this morning at 5:30am when his behind and his front got stuffed full and then his body ringed with the rest prior to going in the oven.

Double chocolate brownies made yesterday also as we are not much for pie, I will do peach cobbler later this weekend.

Today about 40 minutes before getting Turkey and dressing out popped in the green bean casserole and the sweet potatoes topped with Marshmallows and Cinnamon.

With all that cooked we sat down to enjoy those goodies along with celery stuffed with cream cheese and a couple deviled eggs.
Maybe not exactly traditional but it is our version of Thanksgiving meal.

Your Rib Roast and all it's accompanying sides is going to make a good idea for my Christmas meal as really do not like salty Ham and Turkey twice is so not happening in the same year!

Happy Thanksgiving Maria, glad Greg had two weeks at home with you.
Maria Zannini said…
Jackie: We usually do the rib roast for Christmas, but this year we thought we'd be daring. :)

Sounds like a delicious meal. It's an ordinary day for us down here, and the eternal question - what should we have for dinner?

Have a restful day, Maria. How is the knee these days?
Maria Zannini said…
Shelley: The knee is better. Thanks for asking. It'll never be 100% again, but I'm grateful it improved.

We're traditionalists: turkey, stuffing, etc. Ate myself stupid. Was banned from the computer, so couldn't visit yesterday to say:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Sounds like tasty fun and deliciousness all around. Big hugs to you and to the big boys.

Marianne: You know, I think this is the first time we haven't had turkey for Thanksgiving. But we will definitely have it for Christmas.

Angela: Thank you, sweetie. Here, let me hand you a towel. When da boys kiss you, they're sloppy. LOL. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hugs to your Munchkin.

I've been staring at that picture for some time and quietly salivating. Not a pretty sight.

A belated happy Thanks Giving, and I hope you're spared Black Thursday, or is it Friday? I'm not abreast of these things - despite reminders from Amazon.
Maria Zannini said…
Toyin: It tasted even better than it looked. I seasoned it just right.

Mike: I don't do the Black Friday thing. Too much drama just to save a couple of bucks.

Raelyn: With your mini-mob, I'll bet you had your hands full. :) Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I did the whole Thanksgiving feast, but now I don't want leftovers at all! It's like cooking it took all the desire to eat it out of me.

We had family over and they ate the traditional foods while I had a Tofurky sandwich, veggies and homemade apple pie - which I just polished off Sunday night! (My Mom made the pie and you better believe I'll be bugging her to do it again now I know she can.)

Glad you had a good time and are keeping those dogs well fed!
