July, I Hardly Knew You

For someone who tries to keep on top of things you'd think I'd have a better handle on the date. It has been an extraordinary month of busyness with a side of outright terror (when we lost Tank).

But now the month is closing in on me fast and I hardly blinked. Before I go any farther, let me remind you that Back to Basics (the blog) and The Frugal Way (Facebook page) is having a contest to get more people to come by, join up, and visit. There are prizes, guys! Cool stuff too. Stuff you'll use.

I didn't realize it until just now that the contest is nearing the end. This is it! THE LAST WEEK!!

Please, please, please Like my page, follow the blog, and if you've already done those two things, be a dear and mention it on your blogs so that other people can join in.  Thank you!!

These are totally non-promo sites. I'm not trying to sell you anything. And I have no ulterior motives. Getting back to basics is my one true passion. I love to save money, find easier ways to do things, and share the tips and freebies I find along the way.

If you feel the same way, please stop by and subscribe to my blog and Facebook page. I truly want to build a community of like-minded friends, but I can't do it alone. Spread the word and comment often.

This Friday, I will close down the contest and choose winners--to be announced July 31. There's still time to tell your friends.

This week, I have another guest blogger on Back to Basics. Raelyn Barclay will be joining me for the first in a series of fun activities for kids. If you have a few 'tax deductions' hanging around your house, you'll want to tune in. Raelyn is an expert on keeping kids busy and happy.

If you'd like to be a guest blogger on Back to Basics, visit my info page for details.

So what's new? Now that we've passed the half-year mark, have you gotten as much done as you thought you would? What's left on your to-do list for 2012?

Wow, July is almost over?! Time flies.

I did get a few things accomplished this year but not nearly as many as I planned. I lost 20 pounds, got divorced, and got a few publishing contract (although not nearly as many as I hoped).

Angelina: Sounds to me like you lost more than 20 pounds if you got a divorce. --How much does he weigh? ;-)

You know, I thought I had done all this, Maria, and to my mortification and shame have just discovered I hadn't. I will try and make some amends.

Mike: Glad to have you in the fold. :)

I doing pretty well with what I wanted to do this year so far. I think I even sold my Chrsitmas novella too.

Not as much done as I would have liked but then again, sometimes my aims and objectives don't match up with reality! If only we lived in an ideal world...

Jennifer: Hey! Congrats on the sale!

Pat: I'm never happy with my accomplishments, but then that keeps me reaching higher.

The title of this post is utterly brilliant :)

We finally found a house to move to! Now all we have to do is actually move. Who knew I could say those words with relief? ^_^

I'm way behind on my summer to do list though it's not all my fault. I have four more weeks to catch up.

Karen: With a nod to Mr. Shakespeare.

Barbara: Congratulations! Wish I lived closer--I'd help you move. Take it slow if you can.

Susan: You still have time. Good luck!

It IS past the half-way mark of the year.

WOW!

Oddly, because I didn't really make firm goals for the year, I'd have to say that my goals are going well on a monthly basis. It will be interesting to do my reflection of what actually got accomplished later in the year.

For now, like Dory from Finding Nemo, I'll "just keep swimming."

This year has sped past. I'm going on holiday. Counting the days!

Hard to believe July's almost gone! I have a simple strategy for saving money - I don't spend it, lol. I only go in stores when I need something specific, and then I zip in and out.
Liked and followed your blog long ago, I think, but I'll double-check!

Angela: I found that monthly goals weren't cutting it for me. To get everything done in time, I had to plan 2 to 3 months ahead. --very hard for someone who can't swim.

Shelley: When I'm reincarnated, I want to come back as a world traveler. LOL.

***
Cate: Thanks, Cate!

I still want to get my WIP to the editor before Thanksgiving. I don't think I'm going to make it. Sigh.

The entire year is flashing before my eyes, LOL. I'm nowhere near where I'd hoped to be at the halfway mark. Time to hunker down :)

Maria Zannini said...

Carol: You'll make it, Carol. I have faith in you.

Raelyn: I swear I've been busy, but evidently not at the things on my list. Oops.
