Memorial Day US

If you live in a free country, thank a soldier. And if you happen to know a soldier, take him or her out to dinner.

I have company coming in a few days so I'm hustling to get house and land in order. Greg has been gone for weeks so it's all up to me.

I may or may not take off next week. It all depends on how busy my company keeps me. But this Thursday, I want you to come back and visit. I'm going to have a special post on how I went about creating a cover for one of my clients.

Feel free to ask questions or share your cover experiences. It'll be fun!

So what's on everyone's agenda today? Do you have the day off? Can you pop over and give me a hand cleaning out chicken coops?

Hmm...that's what I thought.

What's on your to-do list today?

I have the day off and I plan to visit the re-opened NY Aquarium.

Enjoy your company.

Happy Memorial Day!

I took my boys to see the new Star Trek movie yesterday and I think it pays homage to those who have lost their lives for us.

I get today off. YAY! Really been in need of a holiday from the paying gig.

Sheesh!

Definitely should thank a soldier and the family that was by his or her side. Not sure if we can take the whole fam out to eat, but shaking a hand and giving a hug can go a long way.

Hope your company don't keep you too busy lol!

About that chicken coop...uh...well...see...the thing is...um...yeah, glad you understand.

Hmm? That next post sounds like it could be interesting...
Now, I would gladly help clean chicken coops were I to live slightly closer than I do...You'd just have to arm me to the teeth with all the scorpions and snakes crawling about! #justwontletitgo

We're getting ready for company, too. Sorry, you're on your own with cleaning the chicken coop.

Hope you get some time to relax today, or take that military person to dinner.

Dru: I haven't been to a big aquarium in years! I hope you post some pictures on FB.

Rula: Still waiting on hubby to get back so we can see Star Trek together. We've been Trek fans since we were kids.

Angela: LOL. Yeah, I figured...

Glad you got the day off! I know you've been burning the candle at both ends. Hope you get some much needed down time.

Jimmy: Oh, that client was a lot of trouble! LOL. I intend to spill all. :o)

Raelyn: I had hoped to get to town but it looks like I'll be stuck at home cleaning. Nana decided to explode all her stuffed animals. There's bits and pieces of them everywhere. Oh, the humanity!

I'll be glad when she's finished teething.

Hi Maria,

Happy Memorial Day!

I wrote a post a few weeks ago about an epic fail cover design. Lots of laughs as we struggled. http://caroleremy.blogspot.mx/2013/03/epic-fail-frankenstein-book-cover.html

Looking forward to reading your cover post!

Carole: I just read that post. Photoshop can be a blessing and a curse. LOL. Sometimes both at the same time!

Glad you found your "Beauty".

Dru: I saw those pictures on FB. I'm sure I "Liked" them, but now you got me worried that FB was messing with me. I'll go comment just to be sure FB sees me.

Tammy: Woman, that's crazy! LOL. I can't do that kind of multi-tasking. I'd be afraid of mixing the stories up in my head.

This explains why you're up so late. Hope you got to enjoy part of the holiday.

No chicken coops, please. But I can keep the dogs entertained while YOU do it. ^_^

Barbara: I need to take a tip from Tom Sawyer and start talking-up coop cleaning. LOL.

It's fun. Really! All that hay and dust in your nose. Chickens flying everywhere.

...guess not, huh?

A retrospective but sincere 'Happy Memorial Day' Our equivalent is Rememberance Day celebrating those who died in World War 1. It extends to all soldiers. But what always puts a lump in my throat is the incredible sensitivity and attention to detail the military went to in order to honour the 'unknown soldier'. If I can find a link I'll send it to you - unless you find one first. It's awe inspiring.

Mike: Honoring our dead is almost cyclical in depth. When I was a kid, we took it very solemnly. Later, it seemed we'd forgotten its true meaning. But it's starting to swing back now. People finally get the message.
