Life Interrupts My Plans to Bring Me This

I was planning on doing a regular post today but I got sidetracked over the weekend.

This coming Saturday, we're planning a MONSTER garage sale. We'd been busy doing all the prep work associated with a garage sale of gargantuan proportions--dragging stuff out of the attic, cleaning, polishing, and pricing.

What could pull me away from these vital tasks?

This little guy.

This is Pandora's little boy. I call him Prince Albert. He's 2 hours old in this picture.

Why did I call him Prince Albert? I don't know. He just seemed very in charge and ready to get on with the business of living. I never saw a baby in such a hurry to be born. He was taking his first breath and wriggling before half of him was even out.

Pandora, his mother, is our youngest, but she delivered like a champ. I was glad all she had was the one.

I'm sparing you the hard labor video in exchange for this one where all the painful stuff was over.

I'm equally proud of Greg who did all the photos and videography without wincing too much. As a matter of fact he was the one who noticed Pandora on her side.

Pandora is the most vocal when people are nearby, so when she wasn't moving, Greg knew this was no drill.

She delivered within a half hour from when her water broke. The only thing that bothered me is that she didn't expel the afterbirth right away, and we had an appointment in town and had to be away for several hours.

I contacted my goat forum friends and the administrator told me not to worry. Sure enough, by the time we returned, the placenta was expelled and Prince Albert was nursing greedily.

Two more girls to go. I'm not as worried about Heidi and Lucy. They're both experienced and good mothers.

I'll post again on Wednesday. Hopefully by then everyone will have delivered and I can concentrate on the garage sale.

And yes, my garage sales are the stuff of legend. If you're nearby, you must come and see us. I'm sure I have just the thing you've been looking for.

Awwww. That's a good thing to be sidetracked with. I'm so glad everything went well and they're both doing fine.

Good luck with your gargantuan garage sale! I used to love doing those and going to those. My garage sale days are over - what with being off the beaten track and enough of a hermit, I don't want to point out where I live. LOL

BE: This is my first time having a garage sale out in the boonies. The sales I've been to in this area seem well attended. You put up enough signs and people will come.

There's a neighborhood sale the following weekend, so if I still have stuff I might reopen then too.

We're merging two entire households so we have duplicates of everything.

Mac: During labor, it's oww. After birth, it's aww.

Funny how that is. :)

With you and hubby combining two households, I can only imagine the mammoth proportions of the garage sale you're planning. I hope it reaps awesome profits as well.

And congrats on the new kid :-) Prince Albert looks handsome.

That's the kind of interruption you don't always mind, right? Glad everything went well and hope the next two do, too!

Maybe you can have a petting zoo in addition to your garage sale. :)
I always wanted to grow up and live on a farm and be a writer. I can do half that vicariously through you :) I can't imagine the excitement this event brought to your home!

Congratulations! He's so cute. And yay no complications.

Best of luck with your yard sale. Wish I were there. I'm sure you absolutely do have something I want.

So cute with Prince Albert; glad everything worked out with the birth and mom and baby are doing well! Have fun with the garage sale! I found with all of them I had that if I ran out of time to put things out of boxes, I would just put the boxes out there, people would go through them if they were interested :)

As soon as I saw the life interrupts I knew it was about the babies. What a cutie!
Congrats! I'm glad all went well.

We need to hold a garage sale ourselves soon--we still have a lot of Alex's baby stuff, and I definitely don't want to use it again!

YAY! Happy news!

But he's a realistic question for you (though I'm trying not to be a downer, just genuinely curious as to your plans)... what do you do with baby boy goats?

Gorgeous!

Good luck with the garage sale :)

Maria Prince Albert was well worth derailing plans made and you have more gumption than I ever did as far as garage sales are concerned, we never bothered instead just packed it up and passed it on to either family or a place that accepted donations to use as resale in their shop.

Happy Birthday Prince Albert!! :D

Angela: I thought I'd be finished by now but I'm still going through boxes. It's insane. I never knew we had so much stuff.
Maria Zannini said…
Rebekah: I never count my chickens (or goats) until they're weaned. So much can happen between birth and 4 months.
Maria Zannini said…
Marlene: He's a very sweet boy. I wish his cousins would be born soon so he'd have some kids his age.
Maria Zannini said…
Stacy: ha! No petting zoo. I get enough people wanting to come over and see our menagerie.

But where are they when it's time to pick up poop? Gone like the wind. LOL.
Maria Zannini said…
Karen: It's always gratifying to see babies and moms healthy and content.

We've had some fierce weather lately. I just hope no one decides to deliver during these storms.
Maria Zannini said…
Anne: You name it, we probably have it. Furniture, decor, housewares, art supplies and easels.

I could open a store.
Maria Zannini said…
Betty: I'm so fuzzy about garage sales. Everything has to be priced, sorted and set up for easy viewing.

I've got a few boxes I'll leave with free stuff or dime stuff, but the rest should be on display if we get enough tables.
Maria Zannini said…
Susan: I'm surprised the other two haven't dropped yet. They look ready to me.
Maria Zannini said…
Sandra: Baby clothes sell so well. Anything baby related sells well.

I guess I misspoke earlier. I have everything but baby stuff. I'll send them your way instead. :)
Maria Zannini said…
Sarah: Generally, the boys are either sold or put in the freezer.

I never make plans for my boys until after they're past the critical weaning stage.

Most likely, everyone will be sold but two before the year is out.
Maria Zannini said…
Jenny: I'm expecting good weather. Now all I have to do is put the stuff out.
Maria Zannini said…
Jackie: It's just too much stuff, due mostly because we had two households for 15 years. Now that we're living together again, we have to purge.

What doesn't sell is going to Goodwill, except for some antiques which will probably go on Craigslist.
Soooo cute! >_< Congrats on the new member of the farm family. I hope everyone continues to prosper.

Barbara: So far, so good. Keeping fingers crossed.
