Easy-Peasy Chocolate Turtles

I want to share a truly easy treat to make for parties or neighbor gifts. I found the recipe on Facebook but I didn't want to share it until I had tried it out.

My guinea pig...um...taste-tester was Greg. The royal taster gave it two thumbs up.

Ingredients:
1 package of Rolos (or comparable chocolate candy with caramel in the middle)
1 package of mini pretzels
1 package of pecan halves

Instructions:
• Preheat oven to 350 F
• Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. You can go without it, but the parchment paper makes the job easier.
 • Place pretzels single file and top each with a Rolo.
 • Bake for no more than 3 minutes. The original instructions say 3-5 minutes but for me 3 minutes were more than enough. Bake them too long and the caramel will glue itself to the paper.

You want to soften the candy, not melt it completely.

Take the tray out and top each with a pecan half. Pressing the pecan
will spread the chocolate nicely.

Cool and eat.

They're really good! And super fast to make in a pinch.

Sounds wonderful. Will try this as part of a sweets buffet sometime after Christmas. Followed by a month of porridge and water.

Sweet! Thanks for the recipe! I'll have to try it. I love Turtles.

Mike: I really liked the sweetness of the candy against the slight saltiness of the pretzels. Super quick to make for parties and buffets too.

Anne: Turtles are my favorite candy! This is a quick variation.

I made these for the first time last week. Told my mom about them and now she's making them. I got a friend hooked on them, too. So good. So easy. So addictive.

I'm not a nut lover, so that's too much pecan for me. I'll stick to the store-bought Turtles. Those are pretty good and I can handle the little pieces of nuts (I still don't like the taste when they get stuck in my teeth, though). My preference are Turtles made with peanuts. I know, not the same thing. :)

Found this easy peasy recipe on FB too a while back but have not tried it yet, glad Greg taste tested and you both approve them. Have to get some ingredients and make some in the future for my chocolate fiend husband to munch on.

Betty: Didn't you know calories consumed during the holidays don't count? :) That's what I tell myself anyway.

BE: I can see you now on a street corner offering little chocolate turtles to people.

Try one. It's little but so tasty. One little bite won't hurt.

Evil laugh.

Stacy: I guess you can substitute peanuts for pecans, but I love, love, love pecans. It's my favorite nut--next to hubby. :)

Jackie: I didn't want to share it until I tried it. Sometimes the instructions don't coincide with my actual experience so I wanted to test it first.

Took five minutes from start to finish. Super easy.

They look delicious. And wow. Five minutes?? :)

Anna: It took me longer to tear open the bag of pecans than it did to put the pretzel/chocolate in the oven.

(The bag was being particularly persnickety.)
How could you give me another recipe to try? LOL. I'm going to give those a try.

Susan: And they're great to make with little kids. Easy enough for them to do it. All you have to do is supervise the melting stage.

Jenny: Tasty even for my snobby candy palate. :)

Diane: I might eat two after a meal. It's a satisfying bite of sweet and salty.

I love simple recipes like this, and a version of salted caramel - excellent!

Shelley: If you like the salt, you could even sprinkle a couple of grains of Himalayan salt.
