The Digital Hurricane

Replace "Advertising" with Traditional Publishing and you'll reach the same conclusion.

Digital has changed everything. Welcome to the New World.

Is it for the better?

I'll miss newspapers, checks that clear in three days instead of 3 seconds, and wandering brick and mortar bookstores just to find a new author.

Progress is a hurricane that cannot be stopped. You either ride the maelstrom or fight it and die trying.

It makes me sad on several levels.

Many thanks to Small Press Blog for posting this yesterday.

There's nothing like reading the Sunday papers and having a late breakfast. I think change is good. It certainly keeps us from becoming complacent.

I wrote an editorial about this exact same thing last month. I, personally, can't wait to see what new technology this new Age will bring, and while many of our favorite things may fall by the way-side, it's like you stated, it is a hurricane.

Oh, Shel. I do miss those lazy Sunday mornings reading the paper. It's just not the same reading it off a screen. I find I scan more and absorb less.

Hi Jannette!

Like the Borg used to say on Star Trek. 'Resistance is futile.' We will all be assimilated. The next generation will not understand what all the fuss was about.

The thing I'm most glad of is that at least I was here during the change. We are part of digital's history.
