Computer Kiss of Death

Life has been so frustrating lately. I'm still having computer problems--with the NEW computer now. I'm having software problems too with an offsite company where I freelance. I'm almost afraid to touch anything electronic.

But the worst happened this weekend. Two dogs showed up at my doorstep. One older dog and a puppy. They look like labs. And they are the sweetest dogs--but no ID.

I'm taking them into town today to see if my vet can scan them for chips, but I'm not holding out much hope.

If flyers don't help, I won't have any choice but to take them to the nearest rescue center. It's in another town, so I'm afraid they might not take them. I am sick with worry we won't find the owners.

I know I would be frantic if I lost my boys, but there's been no one looking for these poor dogs. Tank is not happy about the interlopers. The older stray curled her lip at him and that did not go over well.

Please send good thoughts that I'll be able to find the owners soon. These poor babies deserve a real home.

My heart goes out to these poor animals. I really hope they weren't dropped off by someone who couldn't care for them. That happens a lot out in the country. :(

They look like beautiful animals too.

They are beautiful! I really hope you find their owners and that they didn't let the dogs go. I know if my baby ran away, my entire family would be going house to house searching for him.

Darke: I would not be a nice person if I found out someone dumped them deliberately. They seem so well behaved I really think they ran off.

Angelina: You got that right. :) I'd probably enlist everyone I know to help me look. No stone left unturned.

Oh, they're so cute and their expressions are so sweet! I hope you hear from the owners soon. And I hope the computer woes end soon too.

I hope there's a happy ending, Maria, both ref the computer glitches and more particularly the two labradors. Lets pray the owners are looking and subsequently find the two puppies. My dark and cynical mind is that someone's read your blog and discovered you've a soft spot for the strays of this world.

Good luck, both with new-found doggies and new-found superpowers that kill electronics!

There's no way I'm that popular. Besides, they'd have to travel pretty far just to dump a couple of dogs.

Awww...those poor things. Hope they find a home soon.

{hugs} Maria. I hope both issues get resolved quickly and happily, especially with the fur babies.

oh no, I hope you can find their owners.

Sorry that you're still having computer problems.

I sure hope they find a good home!

As for the computer woes...I feel your pain. I'm convinced that I have some weird electro-magnetic force-field that makes any/all electronic equipment go wonky when I near. It's a curse ;} Grocery checkout - the register is sure to malfunction. Yeah...I'm that lady. Ha!

I'll not comment on the pc situation, but about the dogs.

Call me what you like, but something like this doesn't just happen at random. These dogs were meant to find you. Don't be surprised if you end up with keeping them both. Life has an odd way of doing things to us when we least expect it.

Personally, I think they are where they are meant to be.

Any update? How did the vet go?
Maria Zannini said…
Jennifer: I'm just hoping we find "their" home.

Raelyn: After two hours with the Geek Squad, my geek admitted defeat. He thinks the hardware is bad. That means another trip into town. :(

Dru: I papered my neighborhood with flyers. I hope someone sees them and recognizes the dogs.

Nadja:
Ref: Yeah...I'm that lady.

Was that you who was in front of me the other day? LOL.

Mark: This is the second time dogs have "found" me. I'm like a magnet for hard luck cases. The last time, after we resolved to keep the lost dog, the owners showed up three weeks later.

Sarah: I've done all I can. Posted flyers, checked with vets, and checked for microchips. All I can do now is wait. They are perfectly content little rascals though. They never stray more than ten feet from me.

Okay, Maria. I'm beginning to form some conspiracy theories in this noggin of mine. That's not a good thing, though the idea formulating could make folks point and laugh at the weirdo (weirdo being me).

Those doggies look beautiful. I sure hope things go well with finding their owners and getting them back where they belong.
Maria Zannini said…
Angela: I used to like conspiracy theories...until they started to include me.
Oh how sad for these dogs! Is there a way you can find a home for them rather than take them to the shelter where the worst might happen? I can't help but think-- no tags, dumped dogs.

We shall harness the power of Maria. Mwahahahaha
They're so cute! I'd love to take them, but I already have two. Drat! I hope you find their owners.

Fingers crossed the dogs' owner finds them ... they look lovely dogs so someone must be missing them

KarenG: The closest rescue shelter is a no-kill shelter but I don't know if they'll take out-of-towners.

Krista: At this point, I'd settle for the power to order wine.

Barbara: We have two too. Three I could handle, but four is pushing it.

Demitria: Welcome! Beautiful name. Glad you could stop by.

Jenny: Last time it took 3 weeks for people to claim their dog. I hope it doesn't take as long this time. That puppy is too young. He needs his shots.

I hope there's a happy outcome to this story. I hope the owners are found and, more important, I hope they're worthy owners. The lack of tags makes me doubtful but I'll keep my fingers crossed for them and for you.

Shirley: It's been a stressful time for all of us.

I am interested to see how it went. So sad! I hope you did find chips. Those two are so cute but difficult if the dogs are not getting along. Sending you lots of positive thoughts!

I would love to take them but I can't. Hope you find the owners. Sorry to hear about your computer.
Maria Zannini said…
Southpaw: It doesn't look good so far, but I'm trying to remain hopeful.

Tracy Jo: They keep seeing each other through the glass so I'm hoping they'll get used to each other soon.

Clarissa: If you change your mind, you know who to call.

Hi, Maria. I'm sorry to hear of your continued issues with computers. I am more saddened to hear of the plight of these dogs that you've found (I know you are, too). I hope both stories have happy endings.

Oh, Maria. You're having a rough time lately. I hate to say this but is it likely that someone dumped them? My sister & father are constantly finding cats and dogs just dumped near their farm. Their latest addition is a chook. My sister came back to the car after opening a gate and Dad had this brown hen sitting on his knee. They call her Mrs. K, and she makes a nuisance of herself. My sister says she's a good layer though and produces huge eggs.
Maria Zannini said…
Shelley: I don't even want to think someone dumped them. Or I should say, they don't want me finding them if they did dump them. I take a dim view of scum.
Shelley Munro said…
I totally agree with you. Scum. We think the hen was a pet, probably for an agricultural day, that someone decided they couldn't be bothered with. At least she's stumbled on to a good home.

Some alternate options to the rescue would be a breed specific rescue (though I'd keep the puppy ... the older dog may not get along with Tank, but the puppy would and labs are just so sweet).

I looked online and found several lab rescues in TX:

Good luck!

Shelley: I've often told Greg that if I was ever arrested it would be because I found someone abusing an animal. I might be small and gimpy, but I can pack a mean wallop. --He said he'd be happy to bail me out. :)

Marianne: Thank you! Texas Lab Rescue is the one I found, but I'll check out the others to see if they're closer. Thanks!
