Sorry to be gone so long, but this greenhouse project has been eating our lunch.

We can only work from daylight until 9:30am. That's when the sun hits that spot...which is why we located the greenhouse there in the first place. It's still in the 90s here in north Texas.

It's been a long slog to clear land, save my iris bulbs and asparagus crowns, level the land, then add the blocks and timbers to create the foundation. Then came the trenches that had to be dug so we could run water and electricity lines to the greenhouse--a back breaking 90 feet.

We're finally up to laying down the boards for the deck. Other than being heavy (they're 16 foot long), it's easier work than what we've done so far.

In the meantime, Hurricane Helene landed at Florida, but absolutely devastated North Carolina. I feel for them. It's a hellish existence until power and water come back, not to mention all the clean up. It took months to pick up and burn all the debris and downed trees at our place after Hurricane Rita.

And now Milton is on the way. Business as usual at this time of year.

We also had a dockworkers strike on the east coast. This led to panic buying, of course. We had to stop by Costco to restock on dog food on our usual shopping day. It was packed!

People were hauling off water and toilet paper. It was covid panic all over again. Stupid.

If you can afford to panic buy, you can afford to plan ahead.

We got our dog food and bird seed (since it was on sale) and left.

The dockworkers have since decided to renegotiate in January. I imagine the toilet paper hoarders should be fine until then.

In better news, we have an anniversary this week. 49 years. I wanted to go to the Fair, but I'd rather spend that money on a really fine dinner out. It'll probably be cheaper than the Fair!

Other than sore muscles and painful joints, we're doing okay. My neighbors are all on vacation: sightseeing in Italy, sunning themselves in Costa Rica, cruising Alaska, and soaking in Ireland. Meanwhile, I'm lying on the couch with a heating pad and Naproxin. LOL!

We could go on vacation, but we have monster dog, Odin, who tolerates only one outside person, and she's in Brazil. Maybe next year.

Amazon is hosting Prime Days this week, on Wednesday and Thursday, October 8-9. During the last Prime Days event they had some amazing deals so I'm hoping to score some good buys this week.

If you happen to be shopping Amazon, start from this link. Thanks! I appreciate it.
